Nestled in the Ötztal mountain landscape, just above Oetz, lies one of Tyrol’s most beautiful mountain lakes. Piburger See is far more than a sparkling alpine lake – it is a protected natural habitat, a place of tranquility, and one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Ötztal. With its deep green color and mirror-like surface reflecting the surrounding peaks, it captivates hikers and nature lovers alike. The Piburger See in Oetz is also the warmest swimming lake in Tyrol, reaching temperatures of up to 24°C – a true pleasure for swimming. The lake can be explored on a scenic walk around it or by enjoying a rowing boat trip. How about meeting for apple strudel with ice cream in the garden café or dinner on the lakeside terrace?

Family Ski Area Hochoetz – winter fun for all ages

Just a few minutes by gondola with the Acherkogelbahn, and you’ll find yourself in a winter world perfectly designed for families. The Hochoetz-Kühtai ski region offers over 80 km of varied slopes, modern lift facilities, and guaranteed snow from Christmas to Easter. The popular Happy Family Weeks allow children to learn skiing in Hochoetz in a fun and playful way. Cozy mountain huts with sunny terraces, breathtaking alpine views, and genuine Tyrolean hospitality make every ski day unforgettable. The Hochoetz ski area also offers scenic winter hiking and snowshoe trails through gentle slopes, snowy forests, and sunny plateaus.

Skiing in the Ötztal:Sölden is famous for its two glacier ski areas and the “BIG 3” – three peaks over 3,000 meters accessible by lift. Here, skiers enjoy more than 140 km of slopes and top-class infrastructure. Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, known as the “Diamond of the Alps,” impresses with altitudes up to 3,080 m and guaranteed snow conditions. It offers an exclusive atmosphere and wide slopes without long waiting times. Both ski areas are easily accessible by free ski buses.
